Can anyone catch Man. City?

Kadyn Crossan’s Man City team took another huge step towards the Premier League crown when they recorded two further victories in today’s matches. Kadyn led the way with a couple of early goals in their victory over Liverpool who scored a consolation late on by way of a Cathal McKeegan penalty.

Man. City’s nearest challengers at this stage is Spurs. Another Blake Curry goal sealed a narrow victory over Man. Utd who, despite the best efforts of  Conor Martin and captain Liam Weatherall, just could find an equaliser.

Miceal McBride scored a stunning hat-trick in game three to record Chelsea’s first win of the season.

In game 4, Spurs suffered their first defeat of the season when Molly Gray and Adam Peoples scored in quick succession to give them a 2-0 lead. Ruari Herrity pulled one back from the penalty spot but alas it wasn’t enough to prevent Chelsea claiming the three points.

That defeat enable Liverpool to open up a three point gap at the top of the table after another resounding victory against Arsenal in game 5 with Ryan Deery, Kadyn Crossan, Dara Deery and Dairmuid Watson in the goals for the league leaders. Cameron Gregg Logue replied for Arsenal who found the going tough without the injured Shea O’Donnell.

In the day’s final match we had the first goalless draw of the campaign thanks mainly to the defenders on both sides with James Donaghy, Michael Conlon and Tom Peace outstanding for their respective teams.

This year Catholic Schools Week runs from 23rd to 30th January. This week is an opportunity each year to thank God for the amazing gift of our schools and for the outstanding contribution they make every day to the spiritual, academic, emotional, social and vocational development of children from all denominations, cultures, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds  throughout this country and indeed throughout the world.

The theme of this year’s Catholic Schools Week is:

“Catholic Schools: Living life to the full”.

Last year our focus was on resilience, on reconnecting and re-engaging students. This year it is on living our lives with the hope of a brighter tomorrow and on reconnecting and re-engaging with the wider community as the  country opens up and restrictions are reduced.

The past year has been a very challenging one for students and indeed for the whole school community. However, with the roll-out of the vaccination programme, there is light at the end of the tunnel and we have a new sense of hope.

One of our chosen pieces of music for the November Moment this year is ‘God will wipe away all tears’ by Irish composer Bernard Sexton. Bernard wrote this piece for the victims of COVID-19 and for their families and friends. The chorus offers us reassurance that, even in these dark times, God is with us:

God will wipe away all tears,

God will bring you home,

To the place he has prepared for you,

You shall never be alone.

Storms may gather, evening falls,

Daylight turns to shade,

And when your earthly work is done,

Do not fear, be not afraid.

“A Vision of Catholic Education in Ireland” is a pastoral letter from the Irish Catholic Bishops. This letter outlines what the Irish Catholic Bishops believe Catholic education to be. We hear echoes of this letter throughout Catholic Schools Week every year, but it underpins this year’s events in particular. This document shows how connected our bishops are to each and every Catholic school in Ireland.

Primary 2 & Primary 3 Boys & Girls Friday 28th  Broadbridge P.S 6:00- 7:00 p.m.

What an afternoon’s football in The Master’s Hall.

Man City lead the way on goal difference after a Ryan Deery hat-trick in the first match helped them overcome Liam Weatherall’s Man Utd team.

Finn Cooper’s Spurs also have six points thanks in part to a double from their captain against Chelsea. Blake Curry’s goal a few minutes from time after Lewis Moran’s penalty save against Arsenal helped maintain their 100% record.

Sonny Moore’s Liverpool had a narrow defeat against Man Utd who bounced back from their earlier defeat against man City.

Cameron Gregg Logue’s Arsenal can count themselves very unlucky as they lost both matches by a single goal and Cian McGinnis’ Chelsea will be hoping for a turnaround in form next week when they play Arsenal and Man Utd.

Here’s hoping next week’s entertainment is as good as today’s.

The victorious Man City team finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy when the presentation was made prior to the start of the Senior Premier League this afternoon.

Mr McLaughlin presenting the winners with their trophy and medals earlier this afternoon.

Congratulations to all who participated. We hope the Man City squad enjoy their celebrations this weekend!

The Premier League returns tomorrow afternoon when our P6 and P7 pupils take to the indoor pitch shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Man. City will be looking to make it a double after winning the Junior Premier League before Christmas.

Captains Cameron Gregg Logue, Finn Cooper, Liam Weatherall, Kadyn Crossan, Cian McGinnis and Sonny Moore will be hoping that this is their opportunity to lead their respective teams to glory.

We can’t wait for the action to start and wish all the boys and girls the very best of luck!

Enjoy.

The school will be open on Wednesday 19th January from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. for prospective parents to have a walk through with a member of staff.  If you know of anyone considering Broadbridge Primary School for their child in September 2022, please contact the school office on 02871810520 and an appointment will be arranged.
