Congratulations to the girls and boys who this morning recieved the Sacrament of Holy Communion at Mass in Star of the Sea Church, Faughanvale.

It was a most beautiful Mass celebrated by Fr McDermott.

Special thanks to the staff who helped prepare the children, the choir for their most beautiful music and singing, the sacristins Brian McCloskey and Gerry Cunningham and to all who helped in any way make it such a wonderfully special day for the children and their families.

May God bless you all.

Congratulations.

Tickets for School Show – Most ticket orders for the Wizard of Oz have been collected.  Remaining tickets please collect as soon as possible.  For those who placed their order, your tickets are now ready for collection and payment.  We have been able to fulfil all ticket requests made to date, if you require any additional tickets there are still some available to purchase.  Children from other primary schools may attend the performances, we would ask that no children from pre-school attend the evening performances, they may attend the dress rehearsals.  Children from Broadbridge Primary School are not allowed at the evening performances, they will see the show on the dress rehearsal days.

Congratulation to our footballers who earlier today finished runners-up in the Vale Centre Scoocer Blitz.

They negotiated a very tough group including Eglinton, Termoncanice, St Colmcille’s and Drumachose primary schools to reach the semi-final.

There they beat a fancied Drumahoe team by 3-1 to reach the final against a very strong Drumachose team who they’d lost to in the group stage by the odd goal in three.

As expected the final was a very tense affair with both teams coming close but unable to find a breakthrough in the first half. The second half was only a minute old when a swift counter attack led to the opening goal from Drumachose.

Try as they might, they just couldn’t find a way past a determined Drumachose defence, although they came very close when hitting the frame of the goal on two occassions.

A marvellous day’s football for all involved and a very proud performance by our footballers.

A special word of thanks to Mr J. McCloskey who returned to led the team today.
