Journey to Santa Challenge

Dear Parent/Carer

We are encouraging children to stay active on the journey to school this winter with our Journey to Santa Challenge! Children taking part in the challenge will receive a Special Journey to Santa stamp card to keep track of their active journeys to school.

How does it work? Each day you cycle, scoot or walk to school gets you closer to Santa!

The challenge begin on   Monday 4th December  and finishes on Friday 22nd December 2023

Keep your Journey to Santa stamp card in your school bag and make sure you get your journey marked off each day you cycle, scoot or walk to school.12 active journeys to school will get you to Santa and a chance to win a prize from Santa’s workshop!

Some advice…

  • Please consider travelling actively with your child – join the fun!
  • Please use a helmet and bright clothing. Please use bike lights on the dark mornings.
  • The night before, please check that the bike tyres are pumped up and both front and back brakes are working.
  • Leave plenty of time to get to school so your child isn’t rushed.
  • Consider getting a bike lock so that the bike can be secured within school property.

Cycling, scooting or walking to school is an excellent form of exercise, helps children do better in the classroom, and is great fun!

Best wishes,

Broadbridge Primary School Primary School

You may have seen coverage of the forthcoming unions’ strike action in the news, we want to inform you about the impact this is likely to have at our school.

When a strike takes place, those taking strike action stop work and withdraw their labour. Members involved in the action will, therefore, not undertake any duties on the strike day. A risk assessment to determine whether it is possible to operate the school safely during the strike has been conducted which considers the impact that the action will have on the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors, and whether the school can run a full or amended curriculum.

The school will close for pupils tommorow, 29th November, from 8:00 – 11:45 a.m. Children may enter the Master’s Hall from 11:45 a.m. onwards.

The school day will begin at 12:00 Noon. Clearly this is a difficult situation, which will cause some disruption. I would ask you, however, to be understanding.

A strike by unions is very unusual. Taking strike action is not something that any member would undertake lightly. Those on strike will have thought long and hard about their decision and will also lose pay for the period that they are on strike. The school will run as normal from Thursday 30th November.

Please note all canteen users must be booked in early, preferably before the end of today, Tuesday 28th, as only the children who have booked a dinner will be able to avail of one on the Wednesday.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation at this time.
