Primary 1 Literacy Evening – Primary 1 teachers will be hosting a Literacy evening on Monday 2nd October at 8:00 p.m. Parents please try to attend.
Dropping Off Pupils in the Morning –
- In an effort to ease congestion at the school in the morning. Please try and keep to the following guidance. If everyone keeps to the guidelines, the flow of traffic in the morning should ease.
- Those who can please drop children across the ‘Blue Bridge’ and allow pupils to walk into school. Pupils must use ‘Gate 1’ to enter the school. They must not cross at the car entrance and exit points.
- Only KS2 pupils walking into school from the village should use ‘Gate 3.’
- The majority of parents dropping their children to school should use the Drop Off Zone within the school. Cars should move as far forward as possible before children exit the cars. Parents must not exit their cars.
- Parents that are parking up need to pull in close to the kerb on the left-hand side coming towards the school. Children should exit onto the pavement or grass. They should not be exiting the car onto the road. (This should only apply to Primary 1 & Primary 2 parents)
- Under no circumstances should you double park or park on both sides of the road. This is extremely inconsiderate to other road users and a danger to children.
- Please keep the speed to a minimum entering and exiting the school.
Plimsoles for PE – Please send in a pair of plimsoles for children in Primary 1-3 attending PE lessons.
Labelling Children’s Clothing – On a daily basis we are trying to identify lost property belonging to children as it is not properly labelled. If you are sending anything into school, please label it properly. Initials with a primary is all that is required to return clothing etc to the rightful owner.
Accelerated Reading – This is now up and running for all pupils P2-P6. Please make an extra effort to read with your child, encourage them to do their accelerated reading on a nightly basis and complete their tests in school. They will benefit greatly by doing so!
Google Classroom – All children P1-P7 have been issued with Google Classroom Login details Please login using these details. Please do not use personal email accounts as these will be removed for child protection purposes! Keep an eye out for uploaded pictures etc in your child’s class.
In the Community
Eglinton Eyecare – Eglinton Eyecare would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined them at their fundraising Walkathon last Saturday, for the messages of support and for the extremely generous donations received. The total raised to date for the Cancer Fund for Children has been £5316. If anyone would like to donate you are still very welcome to either donate on JustGiving or in person in Eglinton Eyecare. This fundraising will help the Cancer Fund for Children to support children and young people diagnosed with cancer or who are living with a parent with cancer, helping ensure families don’t have to face the impact of living with a cancer diagnosis alone. Thank you.
