Be prepared for wet weather.  Cross-Country, Gaelic & Soccer players bring boots and trainers.

If you have any concerns or your child has medical needs, please contact the school office and bring to the attention of one of the people in charge. (Boots are required if on the pitch)

Gaelic/Soccer – Boots are required for playing on the pitch during Gaelic and Soccer sessions. Trainers are not suitable at present.

 

Primary 1 Admissions –New admissions Primary 1 induction days resumes on Tuesday 16th May 2:15-3:00 p.m.  All new admission pupils are encouraged to attend.

 

Guess the Score- As a fundraising activity to raise funds towards new kits for the school teams. The school has asked all families (Primary 3-7) to guess the score in the Derry V Armagh match on Sunday 14th May. All sponsor cards need to returned to school tomorrow Friday 12th May. Guessing the score costs £1.  A draw will take place on Monday with one lucky winner receiving the £100 prize money if no-one guesses correctly. Any Primary 1 or Primary 2 pupils wishing to participate may call into the school office. Good luck to all participants.

 

Reminder Wear something Red! – To celebrate Derry reaching the Ulster Finals against Armagh on Sunday the 14th May. Children may wear red to school on Friday 12th May in support of their county team. Come on Derry!!!!

 

 

School Netball Team – Good luck to the girls participating in the Northwest Primary Finals at the Foyle Arena on Tuesday 16th May.

School Council Survey- Our school council have been working hard this year to come up with a vision for our school.  All children and staff in the school have been involved and now the council would like to ask parents for ideas for the vision statement. Please take 5 minutes of your time to fill in the survey on your child’s google classroom to help the council with their task. Thank you.

Outdoor Play Development – The school is in the process of planning for the development of the outdoor play areas for pupils. Parents are invited to come along and see a short presentation on Thursday 18th May at 8:00 p.m. in the Minor Hall and view the work planned for the coming months.

Lost Property – There is once again a lot of clothing, footwear, and various items in the lost property room. This will be checked for labelling and returned to your child tomorrow. The items will all be on display to be checked by the pupils after assembly tomorrow. Parents may come in next week to check for missing items. There are a lot of branded clothing that has not been claimed. All items will be available for children to take home next Friday 19th May before it is given to the local charity shop. Please continue to label all items of clothing that your child wears into school.

 

Internet Safety Talk – An ‘Online Safeguarding and Digital Resilience Workshop’ will be delivered to all primary 7 pupils at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday 16th May.  A Parents’ Information Evening will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Minor Hall. This is open to all parents at the school. It has always been an informative talk, highlighting many unknown online dangers. Please make an effort to attend.

 

Travelling Book Fair – Our thanks to all the families who purchased books from the travelling book fair. It has raised over £800 to buy books for our library. Hopefully the children are enjoying their new books.

 

Daily Rosary – Join our Primary 7 pupils as they say the Rosary daily during the month of May. Thanks to the many parents who have sent in flowers for our May Altars.

 

Ladies Netball – Broadbridge Ladies Netball Thursday 11th May at Broadbridge Primary School in the Master’s Hall at 7:30- 9:00 p.m.  All ladies 18+ are welcome to join. Cost £3.

 

Vale Og’s Summer Camp 2023 – Takes place Monday 7th– Friday 11th August 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. daily.  This includes: GAA Skills Competitions, Multi-sports, Irish Cultural Activities, Team Building, Special Guest Coaches, All Ireland Series, Friday Fundayand much more! Plus, ALL CHILDREN will receive a Vale Og’s Summer Camp Training Top and Faughanvale Water Bottle! Only £25 per child and 10% discount applied for each additional sibling. Everyone welcome.
