COVID in School – If your child displays symptoms of COVID, keep them at home and book a PCR test.  If your child is tested for COVID, please forward a copy of the result of the PCR test to the school office.  If a positive result is returned, please contact the school office for further guidance.  If a child tests positive in any class, an alert letter will be sent out to the parents/guardians of pupils in that class.  The guidance has changed; you do not keep your child off school.  Please read the latest guidance attached.

Please see the most up to date Information for Parents and Carers regarding COVID-19 attached.

Attendance at school – Due to the number of days missed by pupils over that past two years, it is vitally important that your child does not miss school, unless it is absolutely necessary!  Those pupils missing school due to COVID must have this correctly recorded by the class teacher, otherwise it will have a major impact on their percentage attendance at school, which may lead to a visit from the Educational Welfare Officer.

Saint Vincent de Paul – Tickets for the £1000 draw have been sent out today.  In line with every school in the parish and the two Gaelic Football Clubs, we will be sending one book to every family to sell.  (£3 a ticket or 4 for £10!!!)  You are under no obligation to sell these tickets.  If you would rather not sell tickets, please return the book to the school office.  Parents may request more than one book, please contact the school office to order more.  We will not be doing the annual SVDP food collection this year, nor will there be a parish bazaar, therefore we will not be selling lines for the £1000 draw.

Santa Drive Thru! – We have Santa booked to appear at the school for our Santa Drive Thru!  This will take place on Saturday 11th December.  Times are to be confirmed next week from North Poles Head Office.  This is a great opportunity to hand in those letters in person to Santa and his elves.

Nessy Children – If you have signed up for your child to take part in the NESSY program, please ensure that they are in on their given day for the 8:45 a.m. start time.  Thank you.

St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s Claudy – Thank you to St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s Claudy for the invite to their Christmas Show in the Waterside Theatre.  Primary 7 pupils had a wonderful time as did the accompanying adults, who have commented on the excellent behaviour of the pupils attending!

Confirmation Date – The Confirmation date for the Primary 7 pupils has been provisionally set for 5th March 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Star of The Sea, Faughanvale.

Journey to Santa

Journey to Santa is an annual stamp sheet challenge that we run in the run up to Christmas.  This is a whole school and an individual challenge designed to encourage active travel when the weather turns a little bit grey and cold in the early winter months.

Each pupil has a stamp sheet with Santa on his journey to the North Pole.  They get their sheet stamped each morning when they walk, cycle, scoot to school, plus this year to encourage all our pupils they are getting stamped for being active throughout each day.

When they filled their stamp sheet it goes into a draw in the school for a class prize and an individual prize.

We have to reach our target of 2500 miles before the 10th of December.  At the minute we are well on our way!  Children check out the journey indicator in the KS1 shared area!

Primary 1 & 2 Change – Please send in a change of clothes (clearly labelled) for your child in the event of slips, trips and accidents.  There has been spare clothing sent out in other year groups, please wash and return to the class teacher.

Gortatole 2022 – Gortatole has been booked for Primary 7 pupils Tuesday 21st –Friday 24th June.  This is now available to pay for in instalments on the ParentPay App.

Ladies Netball – Ladies Netball is on tonight at Broadbridge Primary School in the Master’s Hall at
