Cross-Country – Good luck to our cross country finalists who are competing in the Flahavan’s League Final on Friday 23rd February in Mallusk.
First Confession – Primary 4 pupils will be attending their First Confession in preparation for receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist at their First Communion Ceremony on Saturday 20th April at 10:00 a.m. in Star of the Sea. Parents are invited to attend the First Confession which will take place immediately after 9:15 a.m. Mass on Tuesday 5th March.
School Choir – Thanks to the choir who sang at the ‘Do This in Memory’ Mass in Star of the Sea on the 10th February. Our thanks to the choir teachers Miss Wade and Mr Morrison and all the school staff in attendance. Choir practice continues during the school day.
Accelerated Reading – The new targets have been set for children to attain before the Easter break for P3-P6 pupils. Accelerated Reading is an invaluable programme that when used correctly will help your child attain a reading age over and above their chronological age. For this to be achieved, pupils must put in the required minutes daily and complete small quizzes to test their understanding of the material they have just read. Please encourage your child to fully participate in the Accelerate Reading activities.
Breathe- Primary 6 pupils will be taking part in a 4-week mindfulness programme in school called ‘Breathe’ delivered by RISE NI. More information can be found on their Google Classroom platform.
Upcoming Events:
World Book Day – The school will celebrate ‘World Book Day’ on Thursday 7th March. This gives you plenty of time to swap/ borrow/make costumes if you so wish. If you have not already bought or made a costume, children will also be given the opportunity to simply come into school in comfy clothes and read.
P2 Grandparents day– Primary 2 pupils will be putting on a special performance for grandparents on Friday 15th March at 9:45 a.m. in the Master’s Hall. More details will follow.
