Strike action by UNISON, UNITE the UNION, NIPSA and GMB on Thursday 16th November –You may have seen coverage of the forthcoming unions’ strike action in the news, we want to inform you about the impact this is likely to have at our school.

When a strike takes place, those taking strike action stop work and withdraw their labour. Members involved in the action will, therefore, not undertake any duties on the strike day. A risk assessment to determine whether it is possible to operate the school safely during the strike has been conducted which considers the impact that the action will have on the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors, and whether the school can run a full or amended curriculum. The school will close for pupils on Thursday 17th November at 12:00 Noon for P1-P4 pupils and 12:15 for pupils in P5-P7 . Clearly this is a difficult situation, which will cause some disruption. I would ask you, however, to be understanding. A strike by unions is very unusual. Taking strike action is not something that any member would undertake lightly. Those on strike will have thought long and hard about their decision and will also lose pay for the period that they are on strike. The school will reopen on Friday 17th November for all pupils.

Team Hope -The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox appeal are now being collected on Tuesday 14th November. Thank you to all who have already contributed to this very worthwhile charity.

Anti -Bullying Week – Anti-Bullying Week 2023 begins Monday 13th November. The theme is ‘Make Noise About Bullying’. Monday is Odd Sock day. Children are invited to wear odd socks of a colour of their choosing on this day to celebrate their uniqueness and individuality!

Birthday Invitations – It is a school policy that teachers do not give out birthday invitations for children’s parties. Please do not send any invitations in with your child as we do not want to cause offence by returning them to you. Thank you.
