Easter Holidays – The school will close on Thursday 6th April for the Easter Holidays. Classes will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. Children walking home and those crossing the ‘Blue Bridge’ will leave school at 11:45 a.m.to minimise congestion outside the school. Please be careful where you park, do not block access to nearby houses. School will reopen on Monday 17th April for all pupils.

Tempest Photography.- Have you ordered your school photos yet? A polite reminder that the closing date for free delivery back to school is Tuesday 4th April. Order through the Tempest website using your unique link or visit www.tempest-orders.co.uk  If you need any assistance in ordering your photos, feel free to contact Tempest on 01736 751555 (option 3). Primary 7 Vista (group) Photograph needs returned to the school ASAP.

Gift Aid  Forms – Please return the signed Gift Aid forms to the school as soon as possible. The school can reclaim 25p in every pound that you have contributed over the years and in the future to school funds. This amounts to quite a considerable sum of money providing all are returned.

Latecomers to school – All children who arrive late to school must go to their class, stopping at the front office to sign in. Teachers are continuing to find it very disruptive with children being brought into school after the roll has been taken, dinner register called and pupils midway through their daily spelling tests. Please make an extra effort to have your child/ren in school at the proper time. Please note Primary 2 latecomers must also enter through the Main Office after 9:00 a.m.

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023 – Thank you and well done to all the children walking, cycling and scooting to school. The Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023 will finish this Friday 31st March. Keep up the good work everyone to help make our planet a healthier and happier place.

We would encourage parents to talk to their children about continuing this healthy practice daily.  It is the correct start to any day, to get some fresh air and exercise on the way to school.  Children particularly in Key Stage 2 should be encouraged to walk regardless of the weather, the walk from Eglinton Play Park to the school has been timed as a maximum 10-minute walk! Please ensure your child wears a high vis vest when walking to school.

School Disco – The Parents & Friends’ Association will be hosting an ‘Easter Disco’ on Saturday 1st April from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Parents can stop and drop children off after the doors open.  Children will be supervised; therefore, parents do not have to stay unless they so wish. However, we would recommend that parents of P1/P2 pupils stay on the premises.  All children will receive drinks and treats during the disco.  This event is ticket only; tickets are on sale at the office at a cost of £3.

Ladies Netball – Broadbridge Ladies Netball Thursday 30th March at Broadbridge Primary School in the Master’s Hall at 7:30- 9:00 p.m.  All ladies 18+ are welcome to join.  Cost £3.

Easter Chicks – Thanks to Mrs Adair for once again making the Easter Chicks for the school. All 500 chicks have now been sold raising money for school funds. She has already started the batch for next year. If you have any off cuts of wool that you are willing to donate, please leave at the school office.

The confirmation pledge certificates will be given out at a later date.

Gift Aid Forms – Gift Aid forms were issued last week to some of the parents who very kindly contribute to our Planned Giving Scheme.  Gift Aid is a wonderful scheme which enables charities to claim back the tax which donors have paid on their donations from HMRC.  Broadbridge Parents and Friends can receive an extra 25p for every £1 donated and it doesn’t cost you or us anything!  We would ask if any outstanding forms could be returned to school as soon as possible so that we can process our next Gift Aid claim.

The challenge runs from 20-31st March. It’s free and we would love everyone to be involved. Children can walk, scoot or cycle to school on as many days as possible during the event.

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel is a great way to build physical activity in children’s daily routine which is important for their physical health and mental wellbeing.

Active school runs also help to reduce congestion and air pollution outside the school gate. A 2021 YouGov study showed nearly half of UK children worry about air pollution near their school. And that children thought active travel was the best away to bring down these pollution levels. Let’s get fit and participate!
