Strike action Thursday 18th January –You may have seen coverage of the forthcoming unions’ strike action in the news. We want to inform you about the impact this is likely to have at our school. When a strike takes place, those taking strike action stop work and withdraw their labour. Members involved in the action will, therefore, not undertake any duties on the strike day. A risk assessment to determine whether it is possible to operate the school safely during the strike has been conducted which considers the impact that the action will have on the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors, and whether the school can run a full or amended curriculum. If this strike goes ahead the school will close for pupils on Thursday 18th January from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Clearly this is a difficult situation, which will cause some disruption. I would ask you, however, to be understanding. A strike by unions is very unusual. Taking strike action is not something that any member would undertake lightly. Those on strike will have thought long and hard about their decision and will also lose pay for the period that they are on strike. The school will run as normal from Friday 19th January.

Primary 7 Confirmation Preparation – Thanks to Therese and Mary from the Derry Catechetical Centre for hosting the Confirmation Preparation Programme which our Primary 7 pupils eagerly participated in and enjoyed this week at school.

School Day – Please ensure that your child is in school for the 9:00 a.m. bell. Unfortunately, class teachers are not available to talk to parents at this time as our day has started and the pupils are ready to follow their daily class routine. For safeguarding purposes, the gates around the school are locked at this time. Therefore, parents need to vacate the school grounds immediately. If you are running late, your child must enter through the main office and be signed in by the office staff for our records. If your child is absent due to illness, a phone call or email to the school office should be placed before 9:15 a.m. Children being removed from school early should only happen as an absolute necessity i.e. medical appointment and certainly shouldn’t be on a weekly basis.

Broadbridge Parents & Friends Association – The AGM of the Parents & Friends Association will take place on Thursday 25th January 2024 at 8.00 pm. All current and new members are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the school community as a volunteer or a committee member and to meet new people. See below the list of committee roles that are up for nomination:
