School Choir – The school choir will practise during the school day this term.
New Entrants – Primary 1 – September 2024 – The application process for those children due to start school in September 2024 opened on Tuesday 9th January 2024 and closes on Friday 26th January 2024. Children born on or between 2nd July 2019 and 1st July 2020 (inclusive) may commence primary education in September 2024. Please complete the application as soon as possible. Thank you.
P1 Parent/Teacher Meetings – The primary 1 Parent/ Teacher meetings will take place from Monday 22nd – Wednesday 24th January. Parents will be sent the available times tomorrow on Google Classroom. Please select a time to see your class teacher.
Peanuts in school – We have a number of pupils who have severe peanut allergies. Please do not send peanuts to school in your child’s lunchbox or products that contain traces of peanuts. Thank you.
Strike action Thursday 18th January –You may have seen coverage of the forthcoming unions’ strike action in the news. We want to inform you about the impact this is likely to have at our school. When a strike takes place, those taking strike action stop work and withdraw their labour. Members involved in the action will, therefore, not undertake any duties on the strike day. A risk assessment to determine whether it is possible to operate the school safely during the strike has been conducted which considers the impact that the action will have on the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors, and whether the school can run a full or amended curriculum. If this strike goes ahead the school will close for pupils on Thursday 18th January from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Clearly this is a difficult situation, which will cause some disruption. I would ask you, however, to be understanding. A strike by unions is very unusual. Taking strike action is not something that any member would undertake lightly. Those on strike will have thought long and hard about their decision and will also lose pay for the period that they are on strike. The school will run as normal from Friday 19th January.
Primary 7 Confirmation Preparation – Thanks to Therese and Mary from the Derry Catechetical Centre for hosting the Confirmation Preparation Programme which our Primary 7 pupils eagerly participated in and enjoyed this week at school.
School Day – Please ensure that your child is in school for the 9:00 a.m. bell. Unfortunately, class teachers are not available to talk to parents at this time as our day has started and the pupils are ready to follow their daily class routine. For safeguarding purposes, the gates around the school are locked at this time. Therefore, parents need to vacate the school grounds immediately. If you are running late, your child must enter through the main office and be signed in by the office staff for our records. If your child is absent due to illness, a phone call or email to the school office should be placed before 9:15 a.m. Children being removed from school early should only happen as an absolute necessity i.e. medical appointment and certainly shouldn’t be on a weekly basis.
Broadbridge Parents & Friends Association – The AGM of the Parents & Friends Association will take place on Thursday 25th January 2024 at 8.00 pm. All current and new members are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the school community as a volunteer or a committee member and to meet new people. See below the list of committee roles that are up for nomination:
